Short Wedding Dresses

If you buy wedding fashion magazines on a regular basis, you will see that bridal fashion changes every 4-6 years and does so pretty much in line with the changes that occur in mainstream fashion trends. Sometimes short wedding dresses are in and sometimes long wedding dresses are in.  If you want to be a glamorous, yet trendy bride then you need to make sure that you keep up to date with what is hot and what is not so hot!

If you read wedding fashion magazines you will see that time and time again designs from the past resurface; sometimes in a different flavor, colour or cut, but all in all, every style regurgitates every few years.  Short wedding dresses are no exception.

The big news for this decade is that pretty much any thing goes in terms of hem lines.  Gowns are pulled gently and draped in a tulle wrap, beading is now all the rage and the princess look is on the rise again.  But more than anything, designers are embracing the fact that some brides like short wedding dresses and others like a longer look.

It may surprise you to know that there are actually five common wedding dress hem lengths – tea (mid calf), intermission (midi length), handkerchief (similar to tea length but in panels), street (below the knee), floor (as it sounds) and mini (above the knee, short wedding dresses). Hem Length is just one the decisions you will need to make as you make your wedding dress selection for your big day, but in some respects it is one of the most important decisions you need to think about.  Take your time and try on dresses of all lengths so that your ultimate choice is an informed one.  You’ll be glad you took the time.
